Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Heb 11:1). Your faith is evidence that God’s promises are true. We love to ask people to “prove it.” In response, we expect a tangible demonstration that something is real. God tells us that our faith is evidence that His promises will come to pass. In other words, our faith is tangible evidence that what He says will come to pass. Abraham “…went out, not knowing where he was going” (Heb 11:8). He had no Scripture to rely on; only a promise from God that he would become the father of many nations. How much more should we, with ample written Word and testimony, step out boldly when God calls us to have faith in Him?
Prayer:
Father, give me more faith. Help my unbelief! I want to have complete faith in Your word, both spoken and written.
