Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. – 1 Jn 2:1
You are not perfect. You will sin. Even after you’ve given your life to Jesus and are filled with His Holy Spirit, you will make mistakes.
But do not fear. You have an Advocate in Heaven. Jesus Christ is seated at the right hand of God, intermediating on your behalf. Under the Old Covenant, sin was immediately punishable by death; but under our New Covenant through Jesus Christ, sin is redeemable with new life.
Confess your sins to God, knowing that He is faithful and just to forgive them!
Prayer:
Father, I admit that I am not perfect. Jesus was perfect, and is perfect, for me. Thank You for the gift of redeemed, eternal life!
