Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love” (1 John 4:18). What are you afraid of? John tells us in this passage that if you fear things in life, your understanding of God’s love for you is incomplete. When we truly understand that God is a loving Father who wants good things for His children, we will not fear anything in this life. And when we truly understand that we will be raised from the dead to our eternal inheritance in Christ, we will not fear anything in death. Embrace God’s love for you; when you do, it will be impossible to fear!
Prayer:
Father, help me to more fully embrace Your love for me. I know You love me, but everything I’ve seen is only a shadow of what You want me to understand. Give me more revelation of Your love for me, in Jesus’ mighty name!
