Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Israel has rejected the good; the enemy will pursue him. – Hosea 8:3

God wants to protect you. He is your “hiding place” (Ps. 32:7). He “preserves you from trouble” (Ps. 32:7)! He is your “refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Ps. 46:1). God has no problem protecting you from the enemy, who comes to “steal, and to kill, and to destroy” (Jn. 10:10).

But if you want God to protect you, you have to accept His word. You have to listen to His voice! You have to be in covenant with Him. Israel’s problem was they “rejected the good”! And as a result, the enemy had access to them. The enemy had every right to chase them down because they were outside the umbrella of protective covenant with God.

When you reject God’s word, His hand of protection will be removed from you. It’s not that He will harm you! But He cannot protect you from the enemy who seeks to harm you – Satan – unless you submit to His will. God always wants to protect you. But will you let Him?

Stay safe. Stay protected! Receive “the good,” and stay close to God.

Prayer:

God, I am so grateful that You protect me! Thank You for keeping me safe. Thank You for keeping me out of harm’s way! I am so grateful, in Jesus’ name.
