Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
The word of the Lord that came to Joel the son of Pethuel. Hear this, you elders, and give ear, all you inhabitants of the land! Has anything like this happened in your days, or even in the days of your fathers? – Joel 1:1-2
There was a fierce plague in Israel. Nobody had ever seen anything like it! The modern world had never seen such destruction and devastation. But in the midst of the chaos, “The word of the Lord…came.” The world seemed like it was crumbling! But God was still speaking.
And the same truth holds for your life. A plague is ravaging the globe. Nobody has ever seen anything like it! Our generation has never witnessed so many lives destroyed. But in the midst of it all, God is still speaking.
God still loves you. He still cares for you! And you need His voice more than anything else. He is still speaking. Will you take a moment to hear what He has to say?
“He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” – Ps. 107:20
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your word! Thank You for Your written Word – the logos. And thank You for Your spoken word – the rhema. I need them both, more than ever before! And I am so grateful that You never hold back Your voice from me, in Jesus’ name.
