Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

“And Aaron and his sons you shall bring to the door of the tabernacle of meeting, and you shall wash them with water.” – Ex 29:4

Aaron and his sons were about to be consecrated – set apart – for service. They were about to be anointed with the oil of Heaven so they would be ready for the task of ministering to God’s people. But first, Moses had to “wash them with water” (v 4).

“Washing with water” gets us ready for the anointing. Under the Old Covenant, Aaron and his sons were literally washed with water; but under our New Covenant with God through Jesus Christ, we are washed by God’s word:

“…that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word…” – Eph 5:26

The word gets you ready for the anointing! The anointing is the manifest presence of God’s Holy Spirit. If you want more of His presence in your life, first you need to get more word! The more you read God’s word, the more anointing you will experience in your life. It’s really that simple!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your word! I know Your word prepares me for the anointing. The word gets me ready to be set apart and equipped for everything You have called me to do! Help me to pour into Your word: with all my heart, and all my soul!
