Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Then a voice came from heaven, “You are My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” – Mk 1:11
Before His baptism, Jesus had performed no miracles. Aside from debating religion with the teachers in Jerusalem, He had done nothing noteworthy: zero miracles, and nothing supernatural. He had yet to turn water into wine. He had yet to heal a single person. He hadn’t done anything! Yet God was already well pleased in Him.
God’s pleasure does not depend on your performance. When you give your life to Jesus, He is well pleased in you! He loves you apart from your performance. He loves you, simply because you are…you!
Prayer:
Father, thank You for loving me with Your whole heart. I know your love for me does not depend on my performance. I am far from perfect, but You love me all the same!
