CityLight Pastor Commentary:

But there were some who were indignant among themselves, and said, ‘Why was this fragrant oil wasted? For it might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor.’ And they criticized her sharply” (Mark 14:4-5). Nothing spent on Jesus Christ is wasted. This sinful woman poured her most prized possession on the head of Jesus Christ. The disciples complained the costly oil could have been sold; but Jesus confirmed it had been well spent. This woman will be remembered for all of eternity because she spent what she had on Jesus Christ. What is your most prized possession? Your time? Your ability to do what you want to do, whenever you want to do it? Spend it on Jesus Christ, the Son of God who promised that when we lose our life for His sake, we find it.

Prayer:

“Father, I want to spend everything I have on you! Thank You that You spent Your Most Prized Possession – Your Son Jesus Christ – on me!”
