Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Then the Lord said: “I have pardoned, according to your word…” – Num 14:20

God pardoned His people because Moses intervened. If Moses had not asked God to pardon their iniquity, the people of Israel would have been demolished! We see a similar story in Genesis 18, as Abraham intercedes for Sodom. If Abraham hadn’t spoken up, God would have destroyed that wicked city; but because Abraham spoke with God (Gen 18:29), He exercised mercy.

You have a Mediator in Heaven. Just as Sodom was saved because Abraham spoke up for them – and just as Israel was saved because Moses spoke up for them – you are saved because Jesus spoke up for you!

For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus… – 1 Tim 2:5

Without a mediator, we do not have access to God’s mercy; but with a Mediator who has taken on the judgment we deserve, all that is left for us is His glory! Aren’t you glad you have a Mediator in Heaven, seated at the right hand of the Father in heavenly places, who intercedes for you at all times?

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Jesus Christ. Thank You Jesus is never to busy to pray for me, and to intercede for me! Thank You for giving me a Mediator who loves me unconditionally.
