CityLight Pastor Commentary:
“And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover” (Mk 16:17-18) God has called us to great things. Jesus has called us to even greater things. The Bible is not just a storybook of miraculous things God did back in a time before you and I were born, the likes of which will never be seen again. God’s Word is a template of all the things God is willing to perform through us when we rely on His Son Jesus Christ and let His Holy Spirit work through us. When the disciples went out and preached the Gospel, the Lord worked with them and confirmed His Word with signs and wonders (Mk 16:20). We are designed to have Him do the same through us. Preach the Gospel with boldness, knowing that all of heaven will cause your words to ring true!
Prayer:
“Father, thank You that You are still working through us! Jesus called us to even greater things than we read about in Your Word; never less. Help me to reach for that standard!”
