Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
But the Lord has taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be His people, an inheritance, as you are this day. – Deut 4:20
God brought you out of some scary situations. He’s gotten you through some tough times! But do you know why he brought you out?
God restored you because He loves you. He redeemed you to be His! He didn’t bring you out of the furnace just to leave you alone and fend for yourself. He rescued you to love you. Now that He’s with you, you never have to be alone!
Notice that God didn’t bring you out of captivity to “do” anything; He brought you out to “be” His. Jesus already did all the work on the Cross; now all we have to do is be – accept our position as – sons and daughter of God!
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for getting me through every trial and tough situation. I know you saved me because You love me. Help me to enjoy Your love, in Jesus’ name!
