Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
To deliver you from the immoral woman, from the seductress who flatters with her words… – Prov. 2:16
Why would you go back to immorality if Jesus already delivered you? God has better plans for you! A man who continues to sin even though he knows the love of God is like a “dog [that] returns to his own vomit” (Prov. 26:11). Why would you ingest it again if God already got it out of you?
Jesus wants you to live a holy life. Why? Because it keeps you close to His heart. It prevents you from being distracted by temptation! It removes interference that stands in the way of walking out your destiny. And most importantly, holy living makes you more like Him.
You are dead to sin. Sin has no power over a dead man! Allow the power of God to raise you to new life in Christ, and walk away from your old life forever to follow Him!
Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Rom. 6:11
Prayer:
Father, I am made in Your image! I will be transformed into Your likeness. Help me to live a life of holiness and devotion to You, in Jesus’ name!
