Commentary from Pastor Mike White:
…for he who is hanged is accursed of God. – Deut 21:23
Jesus died on the Cross for you, and for me. He became sin, and gave up His life so that we could all be forgiven. He became a curse, and endured total separation from God so that we would never have to. He took on all the punishment we rightfully deserve, so that we could be free to enjoy the eternal reward only He has earned.
Paul summarized it neatly for the Galatian church: “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us…” (Gal 3:13) Jesus served us to death. And now we get to serve Him to life.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the Cross! I know I am only alive because of everything Jesus did for me. Now, I will spend my life serving You without fear!
