Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“And forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.” – Lk. 11:4
If you want God to fulfill the first part of the verse, you have to be able to honestly declare the rest of the verse! Have you forgiven everyone who owes you something? If not, you will be tempted. You will not be forgiven! And the evil one will have his hands all over you.
But if you simply forgive, the grace of God will wash over you. The peace of God, “…which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:7). You will be healed, healthy, forgiven, and whole. And from that place of healing, you will get to go out and be an absolute blessing to others, in Jesus’ name.
Prayer:
Father, I release and hold harmless everyone who has ever offended me in Jesus’ name. Lord, as You bring the people who have hurt me to my remembrance, I will release them: one by one, by name. And as I do, I know Your Holy Spirit will move through my body and my life like never before, in Jesus’ name.
