CityLight Pastor Commentary:

“And now I know indeed that you shall surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in your hand” (1 Sam 24:20). How did Saul know that David would be king? Because David demonstrated mercy. David had the chance to kill Saul, but he refused. God had anointed Saul king, and David knew it; so who was he to try and change something God had put into place? When we are anxious and we strive for change, we can make the mistake of trying to make things right on our own. It is so much better to demonstrate mercy and compassion no matter what. Leave the judgment to God; He will deal with those who should be judged.

Prayer:

Father, thank You that You set all things in order! Your ways are perfect, and You visit the iniquities of wicked men on their heads! Help me to simply relax and know that You are God, and You will set things in order as You see fit.
