Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“Take counsel together, but it will come to nothing; Speak the word, but it will not stand, for God is with us.” – Isa. 8:10

Your words are powerful! But they must be paired with obedience. Isaiah prophesied that Assyria would invade Judah and Israel. There would be nothing God’s people could do to stop the onslaught. They would “speak the word,” but it would not stand. They would “take counsel together,” but it would come to nothing. Why?

Because they were outside of covenant with God. God is merciful! But in order activate His mercy over your life, you have to be in covenant with Him. Your words are powerful! But in order to faithfully declare the promises of God over your life and see them come to pass, you have to be in covenant with Him.

Give your life to Jesus. Surrender your plans and exchange them for God’s. As you enter into covenant with God, His mercy will wash over your life like a flood.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for covenant relationship with You! I know that inside of covenant with You is the safest place I can ever be. Keep me close. Tell me what to do! Protect me from my enemies, in Jesus’ name.
