Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
When he came to Lehi, the Philistines came shouting against him. Then the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him; and the ropes that were on his arms became like flax that is burned with fire, and his bonds broke loose from his hands. – Judges 15:14
The Holy Spirit came upon Samson when the enemy attacked. Samson didn’t have to fear the enemy. He knew there was power inside of him that would come alive at the right moment. He knew that when the enemy attacked, the Spirt of the Lord would strengthen him to not only resist the enemy, but also to defeat him!
What do you do when Satan attacks? Do you run and hide, and retreat into your comfort zone? Do you put up your defenses and try and fight him yourself? Or do you trust – just as Samson did – that the Holy Spirit will come mightily upon you, and lead you into victory?
Whenever the enemy threatens violence, have no fear. The Holy Spirit will make you strong, just like Samson!
Prayer:
Father, make me fearless in the face of the enemy! I know whenever he attacks, he makes me the perfect candidate to be overcome by the Spirit of the Lord!
