After that you shall come to the hill of God where the Philistine garrison is. And it will happen, when you have come there to the city, that you will meet a group of prophets coming down from the high place with a stringed instrument, a tambourine, a flute, and a harp before them; and they will be prophesying. Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man. – 1 Sam. 10:5-6
Saul had just been anointed king over Israel (see v. 1). Saul’s first order of business as the newly minted king of Israel was to walk right up the Philistine garrison and prophesy. Saul wasn’t even a prophet! So what sense did it make for God to take Saul right up to the edge of the enemy’s camp and have him prophesy?
Every victory starts with prophecy. Conquering adversity starts with you first having the boldness to declare the word of God out over your life! Go look your enemy in the eye and declare victory! Go straight to the battlefield and declare the word of God over the battle before it even begins.
Saul would be a warrior king. He would win battle after battle against all of Israel’s enemies! But first, he had to prophesy. I don’t know what battle you’re facing. But before you start fighting, take a moment to declare the word of God over the battle. As you prophesy, the enemy will flee, and faith will rise up in you like never before!
Prayer:
Father, fill me with Your word so I can declare it over the battle! Give me the courage to look my enemy straight in the eye and declare that Jesus has already won. I want to fight! But first, it’s time to prophesy.
