Commentary from Pastor Mike White:

He speaks boldly, and they say nothing to Him. – Jn 7:26

When Jesus spoke, everyone listened. The people of Israel were used to hearing the doctrine of the scribes and Pharisees. Yet here was Jesus, speaking “…as one having authority, and not as the scribes” (Mk 1:22). Instead of being bored with His teaching, everyone was astonished!

When Jesus spoke, everyone noticed. God anointed Jesus, “…with the Holy Spirit and with power…for God was with Him” (Acts 10:38). Jesus would start by preaching God’s word, and finish by healing the sick, cleansing the lepers, raising the dead and casting out demons! Whenever He spoke, signs, wonders & miracles followed.

We are made in His image (Gen 1:27). When we speak, people should listen & take notice. Part of our inheritance is bold, authoritative and powerful speech. When we speak according to God’s will, everyone around us should take notice because of the power in our speech!

Speak boldly. When God is with you, your words will reflect His presence. Signs, wonders & miracles will follow you, just as they did Jesus.

Prayer:

Father, help me to preach Your Gospel with boldness. When I speak, all of heaven hears; and all of hell is warned! I am made in Your image, and filled with Your Holy Spirit. Help me to develop the confidence that comes with that reality!
