Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases… – Ps. 103:3
God forgives all your iniquities. He heals all your diseases! The connection between salvation and healing cannot be over-emphasized. It has been lost in much of the modern church. We pursue salvation yet back away from healing! But read today’s verse again. He forgives all your iniquities. He heals all your diseases. Has God forgiven all your sins when you repent and receive Jesus as Lord? Yes He has! Then has He healed all your diseases when you repent and receive Jesus as Lord? Yes again! Just as He forgives all your sins, He heals all your diseases; because the requirement for salvation and for healing is the same: faith in Jesus Christ and the finished work of His Cross.
So why are there some Christians who have yet to be healed? Well, why are there Christians who still struggle with sin? Does the existence of a Christian stuck in an unhealthy behavioral pattern indicate that God no longer saves? Of course not! So then does the existence of a Christian with a persistent or recurring illness mean that God no longer heals? Of course not! He still heals, just as He still saves. But the solution to the problems of sin and disease are one and the same: look to the Cross, and ask God to increase your faith (Lk. 17:5) for everything His Word promises.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for healing my body! Thank You that healing and salvation happened on the same day. You are the Savior of my soul, and You are the Healer of my body, because those two “benefits” of the Cross are inextricably linked! Fill me with faith for healing like never before, in Jesus’ name.
