Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Now it came to pass at the end of seven days that the word of the Lord came to me… – Ezek. 3:16
The prophet Ezekiel had just finished a powerful encounter with God! God spoke to him among the “captives by the River Chebar” (Ezek. 1:1), and the glory of the Lord was so profound that Ezekiel “fell on [his] face” (Ezek. 1:28). At the end of the vision, Ezekiel “sat, and remained there astonished … [for] seven days” (Ezek. 3:15). Ezekiel processed and he waited; and then the word of God came again.
One encounter with God is never enough! Your life should be a perpetual series of encounters with the glory of God. You should feel like as soon as you recover from one encounter, God meets you to speak with you again! Ezekiel could have settled and stopped looking for more of God, convinced that one encounter was enough. But he didn’t. He waited, and God met him again.
I pray that your life would be marked by an unquenchable desire to meet with God: to see His glory, to hear His voice, and to fall on your face, just as Ezekiel did.
Prayer:
Father, fill me with an insatiable desire for more of Your presence. I want to encounter You constantly. I pray that no matter how often I meet You, it would never be enough! I want to be full, but never satisfied, in Jesus’ name.
