Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
…as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying: “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord;…’ ” – Lk. 3:4

John the Baptist was not Jesus! His job was simply to cry out and “prepare the way” for Him. In the same way, you are not Jesus! Your job is simply to prepare the way of the Lord. You are to go into places where the name of Jesus has never been preached and proclaim Him! You are to boldly speak to people who have never heard the gospel and introduce them to Him. They don’t need your anointing! But they do need the anointing of Jesus. And you have the eternal privilege of being the one who gets to connect lost souls to God.

In a day and age when everyone wants a spot on the stage, what a refreshing reminder it is that our responsibility is to be humbly significant: everywhere I go, I get to prepare the way of the Lord. It’s not about you; it’s about Him!

Prayer:

Father, help me to enthusiastically embrace my responsibility to lead people to Jesus. I know that when I set the stage, You will come through and make Your presence known!  I am grateful for your providential goodness, in Jesus’ name.
